Who is your fave author and why?

mine are:

Dean Koontz - excellent at horror and thrillers
James Patterson - The Alex Cross series is extrodinary and will get you glued to the book from the first page.
Dan Brown - all his books except DaVinci code are great.
Phillip Pullman - His Dark Materials is an extrodinary series and so are his other books.
Phillip K Dick - truly an awesome author. check out A Scanner Darkly.

gotta be Terry Pratchet, never read a book of his I didn't like.
Dan Abnet is also good, although unless you're into wargames, most peeps won't have heard of him.

Marian Keyes- Chick lit at it's best!
Jodie Picoult- Always a brilliant sudden unexpected twist
Cecelia Ahern- Am just reading her latest and it's not as good as the rest, but all the others are amazing.

I also read a book, can't remember who it was by, called the street lawyer, which was really good, and totally not my kind of book normally. If anyone knows the author I'd be grateful!
