Yes, the one from Monty Python!
He's actually a highly qualified historian, and has presented, and co-written, two television series, The Crusades and Medieval Lives, which are the titles of two of his many history books.
The first one, The Crusades, is co-written by Alan Ereira, but it's the voice of Jones that I hear when I'm reading it.

personally i prefer michael palin's books and documentaries.

They were a writing team in Python, and elsewhere, so their sense of humour is similar. I've not read Palin's books, but his documentaries have a similar kind of enthusiasm as Jones'.

yeah i'll hvae a look at jones' books. i'm just finishing watching palin's full circle, where he goes around the pacific rim. one of the best documentaries he's done.
