The Beekeeper's Apprenticeby Laurie R. King
| Quote: | | Set in 1914, a young woman, Mary Russell meets a retired beekeeper. His name is Sherlock Holmes, and he sees a fellow intellect in 15-year-old Mary, so takes her as his apprentice. Together, they tackle crimes and investigations, as Sherlock becomes Mary's mentor and friend. |
Anyone else read this? I'm now on the second book, "A Monstrous Regiment of Women". There have been some changes to Holmes & Watson, but they all make sense and it's still, essentially, the same old Holmes.

I haven't tried these books, I do like crime thrillers though. I might check out the library as I have nearly finished the books that I have out currently. Is it a series of books, if so do they come in a specific order? I am notorious for getting books in the wrong order, just reading some Anne Rice at the moment - not in sequence though.

Yes it's a series, and I don't know how much it matters what order you read them in, but I would guess, having only read those two, they need to be read first.
Having said that, I read the Cadfael books, by Ellis Peters, in the wrong order, but it didn't seem to matter.

Thanks Dave, have made a note of them and off to the library in the very near future!
By the way, love your signature! I once knew someone who had a cat called 'Not stoppin', when the lady walked in with the cat the husband said, "That's not stoppin!" The name stuck! My brothers friend had a cat called 'Crapper' - leave the reason why to your imagination!
