if anyone wants a good read, then this is your book.

basically its set slightly in the future and there is this drug called "D" or "Substance D" going around which really addictive and really threatening. there is this Narcotics officer called Fred who has to track down the source of this drug, but to do so he has to become a user also. it's a very interesting read and really highlights the dangers of drug use. personally Phillips K Dick's epilogue is very touching and in which he speaks of his personal experience of drugs and those he knew who also took them. i'd recommend reading the book through twice as at first it is quite confusing and going through it again helps you link all the events together. it is important to actually refer back to earlier in the book when you reach the later parts.
